I'm taking a break from napping to tell you guys a story.
I've been limping since before Christmas. Mom couldn't really do much for me to begin with because we went to home, home for Christmas and I wasn't really limping that badly. Really, I was only limping on the gravel. Then when we got back from NC, Mom waited till the weekend after January 1st to take me to the vet (mostly because holiday hours were kinda crazy to work around). The vet wasn't sure what was going on, but she gave me some Rimydal so I wouldn't hurt. I was supposed to come back in 2 weeks if the limp continued. Mom only waited one week since the limp started happening on paved surfaces as well as on the gravel.
The vet took xrays of my elbow and didn't see anything so said she wasn't sure what was going on and suggested we see an orthopedic vet. I was checked for corns on my pads by Mom, the vet, and Miss Lisa. Nothing. Mom took me this past week to a vet in Solomon's to get a 2nd opinion and this vet suggested doing xrays of my neck and shoulders. The 2nd vet's estimate was $500 which kinda freaked Mom out a lot. Mom called our normal vet and they gave her an estimate of $350, she was slightly happier with that number, but still kinda freaked out.
So now Mom is talking to some of her GEGR folks and see what/who they suggest for orthopedic vets.
She is trying very hard to be reasonable/practical while still trying to get the best care for me. She's a little upset that I won't just tell her the problem, she keeps askin' me though. My limp has gotten worse since it's been wet/rainy, so Mom is worried that maybe it's arthritis.
Vet #2 told Mom I wasn't really in any pain, which kinda helped Mom feel a little better... but not really very much. The Rimydal didn't really do much for me, so everyone is stumped again.
It's too bad I just won't tell Mom what's going on... Dog's gotta have his secrets, yo.
