I purchased a grunting hedgehog for Phil in 2012 when I went down to Orlando for a visit. He LOVED it. We still have it and he still plays with it, but the grunter is dead. All the dogs actually love it, and he's now got a dangly leg and puncture wounds, but that doesn't stop them from having a blast with it.
Because I like the sound of the grunters, I purchased another hedgehog for him.. This time from amazon so it was about 50% of the price I paid from the boutique store in Winter Park...
1) We have an extra puppy in our home right now. His name is Donner. He's not staying with us for permanent, but just until he gets adopted.
2) We've been going on walks again. I was on an exercise diet for 1.5 months, but Mom figured some light walking wasn't going to kill me. Yes, I'm still limping sometimes, but it comes and goes. Mom is still curious as to why I'm limping and we were supposed to get a referral from our vet to go see a specialist, but because of #3, we haven't been able to yet.
3) We moved to a place with CARPET andddd SO MUCH SPACE!!!! I don't have to back up everywhere anymore. I can actually turn around! I'm still afraid of the slippery floors in the dining room, but its so much better than before cause she got me some special rugs!!
4) Mom made a new toy investment! I had killed most of my squeakers in my squeaky toys, because they are my favorite. I saw how many she bought last night, but she only gave us ONE last night! (In her defense, she did also buy 2 new toys a few nights prior, and I snuck in the bags and pulled the toys out before she was even done unloading the bags! She had to take them from me to cut the tags off..)
5) She gives me lubbins whenever I ask her to and she is patient with me over the slippery floors and she turns Donner out of the way when I can't get past him to get to my food bowl and she gives me treats and she takes me to meet and greets and she endures my bad breaths and she says she loves me more than any other doggy that comes to my house, forever.
How about some videos?
Characters:
So there's me, Phil, the big, white, Greyhound.
There's Donner, the big, brindle, Greyhound (who is looking for his forever home).
There's Noodles, the "husky", long, Dachshund. (Aunt Courkie's dog)
And there's Judge, the teeny, tiny, smallest dog in the house, mini-Dachshund. (Aunt Courkie's dog)
Here's a video of mostly just me with my new chicken. We had to hide it after this video because Noodles is a little vicious with toys and Mom didn't want this one to have such a quick life.
My Mom is from the South and she said the title of this post was allowable. Joey has taken over my blog the past few weeks, I felt like he needed something extra to do to get out some of his energy. He has A LOT OF ENERGY. He's always bouncin or slitherin' under me. He makes me skid on the scary floors sometimes. He actually wipes out on the slippery floors all the time and he gets right back up and does it again! Nonsense!
In good news, the temps have been cooler this past week! It's been awesome. In addition to our regular dog park afternoons, we got to go on a run last week down the long road. Mom looked kinda funny dragging me behind her and Joey pulling in front of her. She's a good sport. Joey did trip Mom up once or twice, which I've done before. But the 2nd time, she actually fell! Guys, Mom has never fallen before. I had no idea why she was laying on the ground. I knew it was Joey's fault though. So she's layin on the ground and I'm lookin' at Joey like, "Great, jerk. Now we're never gonna get home. Why'd you have to make Mom made and we're not even home yet!?" Joey was just lookin' around like nothin' had happened. Mom got up and she wasn't mad. She said, "Accidents happen. Let's go home." I was down with going home. 2 miles is a long way, even with walk breaks. We ran to the water hose where Mom washed us down, which Joey didn't like, then we went home for breakfast.
After that, Mom said she was sore and we went to the dog park for a few days, and since the accident, we've only been running along the beach road, where there are no cars for Joey to be afraid of. She bought this ball throwy thing. Joey chewed on the handle, which didn't make Mom happy. Joey REALLY LOVES running after the ball. I do not. Mom throws the ball and I run after it once, then turn my nose up. I have better things to do than run after a ball, like sniff all the pee spots and mark over them.
Mom says this is proof there are monsters under the bed. It's name might just be Joey.
Joey thinks he's sneaky sleepin' on the couch, but Mom knows.
I taught him how to be a toy hoarder. Mission = success.
Joey's bed in Mom's bedroom.
... but I stole his crate!
Joey stole my bed...
Mom let me have the rest of the yogurt. Joey and I both got to clean out the peanut butter jar too!
Dis is Joey again, Old Man Phil is currently squeaking it up with a new toy.
Guys.. I killed da rabbit. Life goal is COMPLETE!!!! ...kinda.
Da Mother Bunny was supposed to be indestructible.. It hadn't met dis Ibizan hound before! Hahah! I showed dem who was indestructible!
Phil, hope you ain't mad, bro.
I was pretty worried Foster Mom was gonna yell, but she just saids, "Iz a toy, iz ok." Den she was like da magics and started squeaking a brand new toy!!!!! Da Old Man is currently showing me how it works, but I really wants to play wif izt myself. I keep poking Foster Mom wif my nose so shes tells him to share, but she justs sayz to waits my turns.
Can Foster Mom sew de Mother Bunny backs up? Or should shes just give up on de Mother Bunny?
I really liked frowing de bunny around. I fink it was my favorites toys ever.
PS. I don't finks de Mother Bunny is as tasty as real bunny would be.
So foster Mom has been hogging da computer all weeks! Somefing about Aus-trail-ya. So much funs happened dis past week. I shows you. Did I tells you I lubs de dog park? Cause I lubs de dog park.
Foster Mom said she'd ben wading on Sunshine to come to da dog parks so we could play. Sunshine haz a lots of energy.. like mes. When Sunshine came in da dog park, Old Man Phil, me, and Sunshine waz all runnin around. Let me repeats. Old Man Phil was RUNNIN. Guys.. He's really fast. I'z just a puppy and he was beatin me. Dey say he is a grehound dough, dey is supposed to be super fastest... Old Man Phil was a racin dog, but as much as he sleeps, I'z not surprised he haz all da energies stored up. Everbodys was surprised with Phil was runnin wif us, cause he neber does dat.
Dis is da room where Foster Mom set up mah crate. Old Man Phil lubs mah crate. Well, he can haz it, I just sleepz on da couch.
I'z not movin'. Dis is too comfys.
Foster Mom came home for lunch and I was patiently waiting on her to shares her lunch noms.
Dis is Old Man Phil's raised feeder. He really iz bigger dan me.
De weekend before dis one, Foster Mom had Phil and me and dis other dog named Moe. He was really big. He only stayed wif us for da weekend dough. He was very lazy, like da Old-Man-Phil. All dese sleepin dogs. Dey don't know how much fun bouncin' is!
Old Man Moe
Moe was in my playin way!
All free of da boys.
Foster Mom fought dat leabin me out for a short period of time could be ok... ..I pooped in da floor. She was just glads de runny poops weren't on de carpets.
Dis is me bein silly with da fake bone. Dere's so many fun toys here!
Den on Saturday, Foster Mom left me at her house alone! Her and Old Man Phil went to somefing called a Meet & Greet. Iz about Greyhounds, so I didn't pay much 'tentions. She made me put dese fotos on here...
Dis is Old Man Phil riding with da back seat layed down. He telled me he liked dis much better dan his hammock.
Dis is Dexter at da M&G.
Dis is Old Man Phil.
Dis is Dexter again!
Dis is Lulu. She wasn't really dat happy. She was just panting, a lots. So I'm told. She looks really happys.
Dis is AJ.
It wasn't all bad bein left at home alones. When Foster Mom came back, she had a bag full of da goodies (she brought Old Man Phil back wifs her too)! Some toys for me.. FINE. and Old Man Phil. Some treats dat are delicious. Dis stick da frows da ball, which I fink is also good for da chewin on (aldough Foster Mom wasn't too happy with my chewin art on de brand new frowy fingy). And da Old Man got a new black leash to match his collar set.
Despite how grouchy da Old Man is, he definitely has Foster Mom trained!!
Ok one more videos den I'm going to go play wif da new crunchy toy. Iz so fun!
HI HI HI HI HI HI!!!!! I'm Joey! Phil was gonna write dis blog but I bumpted him out of da way and he stared at me and den went to takes a nap. Like a gramps. He says he's retired. I fink that means he sleeps a lots. But he only sleeps on de floor. I'm more sneakys. I sleeps on de couches. Especially when Phil's Mom izn't looking. Sometimes she finds me, den I haz to get off. But I always sneaks back on later.
OOOHHH Ohhhh, I'm justs sooo excited to be here! I haz a new forever home wif a Forever Mommy and Daddy and brothers and sisters but right now I's stayin' with Phil and his Mom, dey are my foster family. She's crazy. More crazies dan me. But I bounces so much betters. She has dis rope thingy she plays with me with. I grab one end and she holds de other. I growl and growl and growl at her, but she don'ts let go. Till she gets tired. Hoomans are as lazy as Old Man Phil. Den, she throws a stick for me at de dog park. Dat stick is bery tasty. I lubs it. I frow it in de air and catch it and run wif it.
Phil's Mom haz been feeding me soo muches! I'm really skinny though, so I needs lots of foods. I get extra kibbles and surprise noms in the days. I lubs peanut butters. I might also be a counter surfer. I eats da bread that Phil's Mom left out yesterday. She put da peanut butters on it and I couldn't resists. It waz for me anyways, I knews it. I's just helpin her, she didn't even haz to bring it to mah crate. Alldough, I did go to mah crate when she did da yellin at me for counter surfin. She's scary sometimes.
Phil's Mom iz learning to trust me more and more. She's not locked me up in mah crate when she leaves, a few times! She don'ts leabs me out for too long dough. She suspects dat I'm de doggy that poopied in da floor de other day, so she is still suspicous. But, last night, de big doggies got into de new bag ob food Phil's Mom had just boughted. She waz really mad. She says I waz lucky because I was in mah crate and I couldn'ts be bad wif dems. I waz glad she wasn'ts mad at me. Dey got seriously yelled at. Den, she didn't talk to dems no more after she feds us. When she lefts, she saids, Everbodys better be goods!
Overall dough, she's not so bad. Old Man Phil isn't so bad either. He yells at me sometimes when I do da bouncys too close to him. Dere was one day that he ran wif me at de dog park. I lubs runnin at da dog park. Den another day, dis little doggy named Gami came at the dog park and we was playin. She waz hiding under da picnic table dat her Daddy and Phil's Mommy were sitting on. She waz a silly girl, she says to me dat she waz a weenie dog and dey is espshully silly. I waz really bigger dan her, so she waz a widdle skared. She waz bery fun to plays wif dough. Maybe I's can plays wif her again sometime?
I's really habin funs with Phil's Mom and Old Man Phil, but I's also really reddy for mah forevers home!!
Guys.. Mom let a stranger in the car.. AND THEN.. into our house!!!
I mean, this Joey seems nice enough, but he's really throwin off my naps with all his spunky energy. Woah buddy, I'm a Greyhound, we don't roll like that. Or at least I sure don't.
Joey's Mom said that he is a Ibizan Hound, which is a type of sighthound, like Greyhounds are. Joey is much smaller than me, less than half my size actually! He's only 30 pounds! He is supposed to be around 40, so Mom is going to work on that while he's staying with us.
Oh yeah, Mom is letting Joey stay with us... for a month. Mom seems really smitten with this new puppy. But, she's already told me that I'm her forever #1. Sometimes she even says, "Maybe even over Zeplen, maybe, but you were already potty trained and you don't pull on the leash, so maybe I'm biased."
So for the next month, Mom will be learning to deal with having 2 doggies in the house and I'll be learning how to share.. maybe. Dad says that alpha dogs don't have to share, but Mom says I do. So far Joey has already rearranged my toys for me. I had them neatly piled in front of the fireplace. Which is where I relocate them after Mom puts all my toys in my crate. She's silly and doesn't know where they go, so I show her. Apparently, Joey thinks that toys belong all over the house. Puppies. Siiigh.
Just a warning for you all, I'll be FIVE in October!! I think that's how many toenails I have on one paw, but I can't be sure since I'm just a silly puppy-luppy.. or so says Mom.. don't tell her, but I call her a silly human-wuu-man.
Joey
Me and Joey in the back of Mom's car.. I think I like this setup much better than my hammock, Mom!
A crack in the back windows, one for each pup!
Mom thought this was a cute photo of me being awesome.
Ridin home.
<3 those ears... on both pups.
Mom cracked the window for my nose and didn't realize that Joey's whole head could fit through if he wedged it just right... Lesson learned.
My Mom is pretty great. I might have mentioned this. But here is evidence why:
These are my two newest toys in action. The red thing is actually a Mother Bunny and the blue thing is a Tribble. They are supposed to be indestructible. I'm a little sad the bunny doesn't squeak, but the Tribble does!
Mom's been telling me all week that she has to go away for a few weeks, so I think this is her trying to win my love. I'll be staying with the Keller Family while Mom is gone. I'm excited, but don't tell Mom, I want her to think I'm sad that she's leaving..
